The Shortest Month Of The Year

leave a comment »

I’m back again for my monthly update!

In the previous post, I was still lamenting that it was another 3 weeks to Mashimaro’s return, but as I’m here typing this with Mashimaro sitting beside me deeply engrossed in his ipad, it has already been 3 weeks since his return.

We’re less than 1 month away from our TPE trip, and we’ve yet to book our hotel. Double -.-! Neijiang again or City Inn as recommended by many?

February is one of my favourite months, but if you were to ask me, I can’t pinpoint the exact reason why. Probably because CNY typically falls on February (Long holidays!), together with Valentine’s Day. Anyway, since we couldn’t celebrate CNY this year, met up with my cousins over lunch at Ah Hoi’s Kitchen at Marriott Hotel.

And what’s CNY without the “must-have” yusheng? ^^

The wasabi prawns were pretty yummy! I can’t really remember much about the rest of the food, but overall, the food was pretty decent and the price we paid was really reasonable!

Pictures with Mummy dearest, sis and cuzzies! Bee was back from Shanghai for a short visit! They just came over our house last Friday, and it was super fun playing “Just Dance”! I had a good workout man, but think I laughed more than anything else. Lol!

Group picture! ^^ Yangyang was super grouchy that day and refused to join in the picture.

Left them and joined the girlies plus LL for high tea at Goodwood Park Hotel. Even though I was still super bloated from lunch, I still insisted on eating their highly raved durian crepe/pancake. Totally no regrets cause it was really yummy! ^^

Celebrated the first gang member birthday for 2011! Caught “Black Swan” at Plaza Sing before dinner. The film was pretty good, though some scenes were really disturbing, but the film was classified as a psychological thriller afterall. And, thumbs up to Natalie Portman’s excellent acting skills!

Dinner was at Chalk Restaurant @ Mount Sophia, Old School.

Our birthday babe with her Hello Kitty balloon!

Valentine’s Day dinner with Mashimaro! ^^ Had a simple dinner at District 10 Bistro located along Windstedth Road, but heard it has already moved to UE Square now.

Mashimaro’s Hoegaarden; together with clam chowder soup and buffalo wings for sharing. Yummy!

Silly things we do whilst waiting for our food!

We both had fishes for our mains, and surprisingly, Mashimaro had Fish & Chips this time round! That’s usually like the last item off the menu that he’ll order.

Off to the Flyer after dinner to feed the fishes, but arrived there only to realize that the fishes were gone, could only settle for a stroll instead!

That’s my cheeky Mashimaro with his cheeky smile! -.-

My Valentine’s Day gift for the fluffy rabbit! An Esprit shirt (Made him wear it on that very day I gave him, lol) and an Adidas shoe bag.

Met up with my dearest 2nd Row clique over Sunday lunch – Tried the much raved about Peperoni Pizzeria @ Greenwood Avenue. Check out their freaking huge XXL monster 21-inch pizza!

Ate again after lunch! Seriously, we might as well call ourselves the “eating clique” cause we are forever meeting up for food! Had desserts at 3 Inch Sin at Cluny Court, highly raved for their freshly baked chocolate cakes!

Iphone addicts! We were even whatsapping each other when we were sitting together!

Each time I see this picture, I will lol-ed at Weizhong’s super exaggerated expression!

Alrightey, that’s all for this post now! It’s Danny & Cindy’s big day next week, together with our Wedding Anniversary!

And I guess I won’t be back anytime soon, so wishing all an advance Happy Holidays! ^^

Everything About January

leave a comment »

Tis’ gonna be one of my lengthier post till date cause I’m consolidating all the January entries into a single one! Hope I haven’t left out any, that’s the thing with super outdated blogging.

The long weekend has given me time for a good rest, though sadly, it’s gonna end very soon, and the next PH is still so looong to go! The doctor’s super strong medicine literally knocked me out for a few days – I slept from 10pm on Friday night to 12 noon on Saturday, took a nap from 1pm to 5pm in the afternoon, and slept again at 11pm till 11am on Sunday. Gosh, I’ve never slept so much in my entire life before! I’m not going to take a second dosage since it’ll probably take me another 2 days before I can get rid of the grogginess.

Anyway, something random, 3 weeks has passed since Mashimaro left, and it’s 17 more days to go! And yups, for those who’re asking me what’s my msn tagline is about, I’m counting down daily to Mashimaro’s return! ^^

Alrightey, lemme get started! Met my dearest 2nd Row for our belated annual gift exchange at Epicurious @ Roberston Quay – Our first breakfast gathering ever! And we all came to the conclusion that we’re not really the “breakfast bunch”, lunch/dinner/supper will suit us better!

It’s gift exchange time! This year Secret Santa was a breeze for me cause I picked Shan! ^^ It’s quite easy to pick a gift for Shan, anything cute or girly is suitable for her. Got her a clutch bag and bracelet.

P/S: Buying for Fenjie is gonna be even easier – Just have to get her something from our usual online blogshops! Hee.

Cheri’s my Secret Santa, and she got me Body Shop stuff!

And if I didn’t remember wrongly, the story goes like this – We wanted to find a place for coffee, so we hopped on to Shan’s car, and said let’s go Liang Court since it was the nearest. But oops, we missed the entrance, lazy to make a U-turn, and said let’s go Orchard instead then since it’s just further down the road. But we missed the turning again, oops but it’s okay, let’s go VivoCity then. And this went on and on before we finally arrived at Great World City after many, many, many u-turns.

And, we sat at Spinelli there playing Monopoly Deal, that’s how stupid we can get. Lol!

Met up with my NUS clique for dinner after work @ MOF, Marina Square. Haven’t ate there for ages! But I still like Sushi Tei the most, especially their Ika Tempura, I never fail to order that every single time I’m there.

Smiley faces! ^^ Totally envious of Fel who’s enjoying her super long, super shiok holiday at Europe now. To Mashimaro if you’re reading this: I want to go Europe again! Bring me there!

Dinner with Ah Zhong @ Al Dente, Esplanade Bay! Tried her much raved crabmeat pasta, and it’s really yummy! We lol-ed at the “24-month old ham”  - What a description for the pizza.

Mr. Rowdy joined us together with Haoling. Desserts were yummy too, and I love their alfresco dining! Of course, the good weather played a part.

Took a couple of pictures against MBS whilst trying out different modes on my cammie. Oh yes, LZW was covering the camera hole with a piece of tissue, as that will soften the effects of the harsh flash. Though he did look pretty silly doing that.

Time spent with Mashimaro is always love! ^^ Had Tampopo for dinner before meeting up with our friends.

Yes, the super restless Mashimaro was playing Solitaire whilst waiting for our food! -.-

The stupid things you do when you’ve too much time on hand!

KTV session @ Party World, which was actually Layhong’s birthday celebration as well! I’ve very little pictures here cause Mashimaro selected the wrong camera mode, and all the pictures turned out super grainy. Grrr!

Met up with my ex-DBS colleagues after sooo long! They are like, my “first official colleagues”, knew them from my first holiday job at DBS when I was 17. Gosh, that’s 9 years back. Fast forward to 9 years later, everyone still look pretty much the same! These lovely ladies didn’t age a single bit at all, still looking as fab as always!

I really enjoyed my time with them then. Work was fun, and I really looked forward to going to work each day! Plus, they were really helpful, patient with me and taught me alot of things along the way!

Last update for January – Had an early reunion dinner at this random Chinese restaurant at Chinatown. I know the food doesn’t really look appetizing on pictures, but they actually taste pretty good!

Mummy looking cute as usual! ^^

The gluttony us went for round 2 barely one hour after dinner! Checked out West Coast Plaza since we haven’t been there yet, but hmm, I guess I won’t be going back there again unless necessary.

And it’s KTV again, just that it was at Kbox this time round.

Can’t believe I actually grew my hair sooo long last time! After Mashimaro took this picture, he kept calling me Goldilocks! -.-

Something about Mashimaro: After 1-2 hours of KTV, he’ll doze off and it will become my mini concert instead. It’s not just me, ask his RSCEL mates, and that’s what he does all the time!

That’s the end of my post! No idea when I’ll be blogging again since I’m sooo lazy, and I still have 123,456 pictures in my cammie that I have not even transferred out yet.

It’s time for the weekly house-cleaning again! That’s one of the “sian” thing when it comes to living on your own, but I guess nothing beats the feeling of having a place to call our own. We’ve been staying at our house for almost 8 months now, but we still have not done our housewarming! Oops. But sometimes I wonder if it’ll be funny to do a housewarming when most of our friends have been to our place already. #1 guest is definitely Berrie, lol, I think she even knows where are most of our stuff are kept.

Alright all, enjoy the last of the long weekend! ^^

I guest the title best describes what I’m feeling now. Sent Mashimaro off at the airport this afternoon with a heavy heart, gosh, 6 weeks is gonna seem like 6 years to me!

But nonetheless, I’m still very grateful to have friends who “checked” on me and make sure I’m not crying my eyes out over his temporary absence. Lol!

And just when I finally thought of blogging again to keep myself occupied, Photobucket is down! So, till then…

What’s Left of December

leave a comment »

Hello I’m back! Sometimes I find it fascinating why I’m still blogging these super backdated entries! Haa! In the past, my almost-daily-after work-routine used to be being stuck on the computer after dinner all the way till bedtime! But now, I hardly on my computer at all, much less to say log on to msn!

Anyway, shall just do a short update today cause my beauty sleep is definitely far more important!

Fell ill after our wedding, such that my 3 days of marriage leave became 3 days of medical leave instead, spent drifting in and out of sleep after popping pills! But luckily I managed to recover in time for Clinton & Charmayne’s wedding which was just a few days away after ours!

Their banquet was held at Swissotel Merchant Court, and I really like the wedding favour! Pretty and useful! But we still haven’t gottne round to using it yet. And oooh, did I mention I totally love the wedding favour from Ben & Cecilia’s wedding from Crowne Plaza? It was a pack of mahjong cards, super useful for travels! And I think I can finally use the cards next year during our TW trip, just nice for the 4 of us! Heh!

Elaine & me! Gosh, she’s really super petite and sooo small size, I look like a giant next to her!

Girls-only picture with our lovely Mrs Lam!

Christmas Day was spent with my family this year. Attended my 6th Uncle’s housewarming at Oxley Walk, and besides saying that his house is beautiful, I don’t know what else I can say. Ah I admit my Vocabulary is pretty much limited.

Even the pool looks s beautiful at night with all the lights! The thing I don’t quite like about his house was the high tech lift that took us minutes before we figured out how to use it. Haa, guess we’re too used to the standard building/HDB lifts!

A rare full family picture! No idea why Mashimaro looks exceptionally happy? And Mummy looks so unprepared for the camera!

Fast forward to 31 Dec, celebrated the last day of 2010 with my dearest girls, pity missing out LZW who fell sick I think. Chose a quiet place for dinner cause most restaurants/cafes have been fully booked by then. But Bistro One Zero Three received pretty good reviews on Hungry Go Where and their food was pretty good, and prices were cheap!

Looking at these pictures, I’m starting to miss my long hair again though shampooing and drying is really a chore. Cut it really short recently after having such long hair for ages plus Mashimaro has been complaining that I’m choking up the bathroom with the amount of hair I’m dropping daily! Surprised myself and my hairstylist with the new length – Never thought I’ll bear to cut so much of my hair (I’m regretting abit actually!) but my head is so much lighter after the haircut! If only emotion baggage operates the same way and can be snipped away like hair.

After dinner activity was bowling at Mount Faber Safra again, and did our Christmas gift exchange there too! Received a hot pink wristlet from Minx and fragrance sticks from Zhong, whereas I got them a pinky mouse each!

And then, we counted down to Year 2011! Gosh, speaking of which, 3/4 of the year has already flew passed, and I’m getting older and older each day! Urgh. When you were young in your teens, you wanted to grow up badly to enjoy all the perks and freedom of being an adult, but now, I just wished that I can stop at age 24. Ageing is not something I look forward to, sigh.

It’s time for bed now and it doesn’t help that it’s my most dreaded Wednesday tomorrow! =(

It seems like I can never kick the habit of last minute packing everytime I go overseas! -.- But at least this time round, I did try to make an attempt to start earlier.

Work is getting increasingly busy, but that’s something good in way since it equates to more learning opportunities I guess? Come 23 Oct (Same day as Zhong’s birthday lo) I’ll be celebrating my 2nd “anniversary” at CPL! Haa, and that’s my longest job till date!

But come Oct, it also means that I’ll be Mashimaro-less for 6 weeks again! Oh man, and I’m really dreading those awful daysss! =(

Alrightey, I better catch up on my lost sleep now, blog when I’m back! Ciaos.

Mashimaro is fast asleep cause he has to wake up at 3am later for AHM (O.o) which gives me some spare time to blog! I’ve been addicted to watching movies online and so far I’ve caught Garfield 2, Confessions Of A Shopaholic, Megamind, Despicable Me, Astro Boy and a few more!

Anyway, here’s the final wedding post! Part 2 of the wedding banquet after I changed into the purple evening gown. Yup, it’s the same gown as my wedding photoshoot. Seems like Casey’s favourite colour for me is purple – Both the ROM and this evening gown that he made for me has purple in them!

Here’s us with our brothers and sisters preparing for the 2nd march-in! Thanks to Shan who got the sisters matching hair pins!

They walked in pair-by-pair before us! ^^And the 2 huge party bloopers that we bought didn’t work and they didn’t come cheap! Argh, feel so cheated. Uncle even said that those 2 “very good, extra power”.

Standard – Champagne pouring and “yum seng”. Lol, the swordbearers and brothers are really good at that!

Mashimaro and I were sorta blabbering throughout our speeches cause we are pretty unprepared. But at least I was slightly better, heh! I started working on the speech the night before whereas Mashimaro did his in the hotel room just right before the banquet.

Fluffy rabbit surprised me with a bouquet of roses since it was our 1st wedding anniversary! Special thanks to Clinton for buying the flowers!

Knowing how lazy I am, I’m not gonna collage and post up the table-to-table shots, so here are a few random pictures taken outside the ballroom whilst saying our thank-yous and good-byes to the guests!

The babe in black is my hairstylist Jackeline, and speaking of which, I need to fix an appointment with her to do something about the grass on my head real soon! Accompanied Berrie for soft rebonding with Jac last month back and I’m so tempted to go back to straight hair after seeing hers. Lol! That’s so me – When I have straight hair I’ll be itching to perm it and when I have curly hair, I’ll be itching to rebond. Oh well.

The other babe in pink is Mashimaro’s sister!

Dylan is forever so cute, so handsome and so photogenic. Awww!

And in the last picture below are the ones whom I’ve gotta thank for all the beautiful pictures + videos! Winson the videographer, together with Soon and Cole from 2 Of Us Photography. It was really fun having them around, and if any one needs recommendation for wedding photo/videographers, these 3 guys are the ones that comes to my mind!

And with that, I’ve finally come to the end of my wedding posts! It’s little wonder why people always say that wedding is one of the most memorable day in your entire life, of course it is! Super grateful that everything went smoothly that day with no major hiccups and I know that there are lots of love ones we have to thank for that.

Anyway, to me, wedding is more of a memorable celebration to signify the next step in our relationship, but it’s how we’re spending our time now and the years ahead that truly matters the most! ^^

Time for bed now, blog again, ciaos!

I’m back again after a mini 2-week hiatus! Been pretty busy/lazy recently, and finally have time today for a quick update. Here’s the first part of our wedding dinner post!

Had our banquet at Marina Mandarin Hotel. I guess the place holds special memories for us we celebrated our 4th Anniversary (as well as 6th since we had the free night stay) there, and Mashimaro also popped the question then!

Our wedding favors –  Bear plushies keychains from Marina Mandarin, and in addition to that, we ordered customized candies from Sticky. Had our initials (R&Y) as well as our wedding date on the candies and ordered 8kg in total! Kudos to Mashimaro’s family for helping us to pack the candies till early morning a few days before! As well as the super nice Derrick who helped me to print the stickers free-of-charge!

And I made good “use” of my 1-week hospitalization leave the week before and to do the japalang decorative stuff. Talk about last minuteness, and I’ll definitely score full marks for that! It might sound bizarre to say this, but I’m thankful for the hospitalization leave cause I had time to rest and recover at home, not to mention time to finish up all our wedding preparations!

The red setup are for the VIP tables. Personally, for the price we paid, I think Marina Mandarin is a pretty good choice – Spacious, pillar-less, convenient location etc., but their main downside is the low ceiling! Anyway, the pretty chandelier lights made up for it though!

Meet my pretty reception girls! Minx, Fel, Wendy, Shirly, Cindy & Elaine! ^^

I have loadsss more pictures of the guests but being so lazy, here are a few selected ones! Oops, I think Mashimaro was on the phone calling me asking me to stop yakking in the room with my 2nd Row peeps and go down now!

With Mashimaro’s dashing sword-bearers!

Our pretty emcees for the night – Zhengling & Michelle introducing us as we prepared for the first march-in!

The first obstacle was easy – Mashimaro had to say “I Love You” in 3 languages except English and Mandarin! My fluffy rabbit looks super excited in all the pictures!

As for the last obstacle, Mashimaro had to carry me onto the stage, which was still a relatively easy task for him luckily! But he had abit of struggle trying to manage my gown, especially with me wearing the cancan, lol!

Haa, if I could choose again, I would have done away with this dancing segment, cause I remembered that a few of them really looks super embarrassed to be dancing on the stage in front of so many people!

And finally, it’s time to tuck in! Guess all the guests were pretty hungry by then!

Alrightey, with my short attention span, I can only blog till here before I’m off to do something else! Anyway, I’m sooo looking forward to the long weekend for a good rest! Say hello to 4 days of uninterrupted sleep, steamboat and mahjong sessions with friends, and most importantly, spending more time with Mashimaro! Mashimaro’s been really busy at work lately (Actually come to think of it, he’s been pretty busy all along) such that I feel that I don’t really get to see him much on weekdays, when I wake up he’s out of the house already, and when he reaches home from work, I’m usually asleep.

Time to buzz off now, blog again soon I hope!

leave a comment »

Finally continuing to Part II of our big day!

After penning down his promises, Mashimaro had to read them aloud to me before he could enter. Don’t ask me why Mashimaro’s still wearing the cape though, think he secretly enjoys wearing it.

Pictures will do the talking! ^^

Time for a quick family photo before saying goodbye to Daddy & Mummy dearest, and heading over to Mashimaro’s! Layhong’s mum was our “媒人” for the day!

We initially planned for Wessex Estate as one of our outdoor photoshoot locations with Di Gio, but since that didn’t materialize in the end, we chose to go there for our photoshoot with the brothers and sisters! Wessex Estate is a quiet and tranquil neighbourhood along Portsdown Road, heard that the apartment blocks and the black/white houses are home to painters, writers, designers etc. basically the arty people!

Really had lots of fun during the photoshoot, hope our brothers and sisters did as well! And kudos to them for being ever so sporty and spontaneous, the pictures turn out really nice and cute! ^^

And my dearest Fenjie got the bouquet! Junhao what are you waiting for? LOL! ^^

Anyway, contrary to what I thought, it was discussed beforehand that the next person planning to get married should try and catch the bouquet, whereas I have to try my best to throw it to her! Oh man, to think that I’ve always thought that it takes luck and fate to be the one to catch the bouquet. But I guess it does make sense since I can’t possibly be throwing the bouquet too many times else I’ll probably end up with a stalk of flower only towards the end!

Hee, I think all our brothers and sisters look so good!

Finally reached Mashimaro’s home, and Jian had to double up as the one to open the car door for me. But hey, he gets another red packet one okay!

One of the Chinese wedding tradition – Eating sweet and round glutinous rice balls so that our marriage life will be 圆圆满满! Tea ceremony followed after that.

Changed into my tea dress there after and it was time to head back home for tea ceremony round 2! And when we reach yup, another round of eating of glutinous rice ball eating. Lol!

I look like a siao char bo laughing until like that, totally no image at all.

Part of my relatives who came to attend the tea ceremony that day. It was tooooo squeezy to squash everyone in for a complete group picture!

And I’ll end this blog post with our ring shots courtesy from 2 Of Us which I really, really like!

Part III – Wedding banquet post up next and that’s gonna be another super image-heavy one.

Even though it’s the much dreaded Monday tomorrow,  it don’t seem that gloomy for once cause it’s a slightly shorter 4-day week ahead! Night world! ^^

♥ 19.12.10 Chapter I ♥

Haven’t been doing a proper update for the longest time, so here we go!

I’ve sooo many photos to choose from for the collages, I don’t really know where to start initially. Lol! Anyway, all these pictures are courtesy from Soon & Cole from 2 Of Us Photography, totally didn’t regret engaging them as our AD photographers! Nice and funny bunch of people (Winson included, of course), and great skills! It was really a fun and memorable experience having them as our photographers, have been recommending them to many of our friends!

Enough of ramblings, pictures-overload ahead!

Soon was at Mashimaro’s whilst Cole was with me. Here’s Mashimaro getting ready for our big day!

Mashimaro’s brothers gang – Ben, Danny, Eric, Jian, Kenny & Zhudidi! We got them purple shirts (Matches my sisters’ dresses) and black studded hats for photo-taking effect!

“Like” these shots. Niceee, but super act cool feel, lol!

Just when they were ready to set off, oops 状况 #1 – Danny’s car couldn’t start! It must have been quite a funny sight seeing the brothers pushing the car. Lucky Mashimaro since it was our wedding day else he definitely wouldn’t be the one sitting comfortably in the car!

Over at my side now!

Even though I made a conscious effort to sleep wayyy earlier the night before, but I had problems falling asleep, pretty much expected I guess. Was super nervous and kept thinking of the worst possible scenarios – Feeling unwell, tripping and falling flat on my face etc! And when I finally fell asleep, after what felt like 5 minutes, it was time to wake up already.

I really like the champagne ruffles on my gown! Plus the bling bling heels from Anna Nuchi which I doubt I’ll ever be wearing them again.

Whilst I was busy doing my makeup with Amanda in the room, my sisters were getting ready for the fun ahead!

Meet my gorgeous jiemeis (LZW not included, hee) – Ah Zhong, Fel, Fenjie, Lydia, Minx & Shan! Bought their dresses off an online blogshop, and thankfully, they had 6 pieces left!

With my lovely jiemeis! ^^

Back to Mashimaro and his brothers – After settling Danny’s car, they finally reach after a long drive from the west to the east! My cousin who fits the requirements (Male, younger than me) opened the car door for Mashimaro.

The guys getting ready for the “challenges”! Frankly speaking, my sisters are really very, very, very nice and mild in comparison to others! Most of the games were like a breeze for the brothers, especially when they secretly threw away some of “delicious food” that were prepared for them. Zzz!

All 7 of them trying hard to squeeze and balance on a teeny weeny piece of newspaper whilst dancing!

The usual “sweet sour spicy bitter” segment. Lol, Jian’s caught on camera passing his drink to Danny, and Danny’s baffled look is classic!

Erm, cheers to hope-we’ll-not-have-diarrhea-after drinking-this?

Obviously the sisters are not very satisfied with the red packet – Look at the number of $2 notes plus the Rupiah that Fel is holding on!

Yay! Lydia’s is the 大姐大!

Burpees and push-ups to appease the sisters! They seem to be happy having a morning workout though.

And the last really easy challenge after Mashimaro made it pass the main gate was to pen down his promises to me! One of them was to let me use the bathroom first, and Mashimaro is keeping that promise pretty quite well till date, hee!

Alrightey it’s time for bed, that’s all for Part I, will update about Part II and III soon!

Popping by for a quick update while waiting for Mashimaro to be home. No time + super lazy for a proper update, so I’m here to do a very random post instead!

Anyway, this is abit late, but THIS is what I’ve been addicted to recently – HK TVB drama Gun Metal Grey starring Michael Miu, Felix Wong & Jessica Hsuan. Interesting storyline (especially the ending) + awesome cast = me glued to the TV.

Lol, ok I admit. Michael Miu (Mad Sir!) is actually one of the main reason why I’m so addicted to the drama. Gosh, he’s still looking so, so, so, so, so good at 53! Mashimaro’s gonna roll his eyes AGAIN at me when he sees this, oops. And it’s pretty funny cause I was talking to my friends over lunch the other day about the drama, and when I mentioned Michael Miu, both CY’s and Jolene’s eyes literally lighted up and said “Yes, yes! He’s super handsome!”

Gawd, we really did sounded like those teenagers going gaga over their idols. Lol.

I guess “fine wine” is the best analogy to describe him, he gets even better with age!

There’s still alot more things that I want to pen down, but for some reason or another, I can’t really seem to put down everything into words, so I guess I’ll just stop things as that. Till the next update then. Tadas!

I’m very glad I’m not alone in the way I feel towards you cause alot of us are feeling so the same! It’s sad cause either you are oblivious to what’s happening or you’re so damn thick-skinned you can’t be bothered about how you disgust people!

Loots from Bluebay TW!

leave a comment »

Before I get started on our actual day wedding entries proper, will be doing a few mini updates related to our wedding!

Received our loots via courier from Bluebay sometime back in September - Two boxes that arrived at our doorsteps! One containing the traditional “bedroom” photo frame, the others containing all our loots! The boxes were so heavy it’s little wonder that courier alone costs us more than $200.

Our loots were nicely bubble wrapped and place in two white suitcases! There’s the option of having pink suitcases as well, but you’ll have to top up additional money for it, which is something I’ll be not willing to spend on!

And here’s what is inside the suitcase! A scroll, which is equivalent to their guest book. But it’s so pretty, I couldn’t bear to use it, used the one provided by Di Gio instead!

Two mini albums containing the same set of pictures as the main album – Ideal for bringing them around in case relatives and friends wanna see it! One album contains the landscape shots whereas the other contains the portrait shots.

And next is what I love the most out of our entire loots! An album containing all the 幕后花絮! Personally I think this is really a great idea cause it brings back all the fun, laughter and happy memories from the photoshoot. And we didn’t even know when were some of the pictures taken! Flipping through this album really brought smiles to our faces! ^^

P/S: Look at the horrendous amount of mud on my white gown! Gross max! And poor Tofu still had to help me hold on to the hems of the disgusting gown. Hee, if you realize, I was actually wearing pink PCK-alike boots cause it was super slippery! If I were to wear my heels, either I would slip and fall or the heels would get stuck in the mud.

Ever wondered how did they achieve the gown flying up effect in pictures? Kudos to Tofu again for “throwing” the hems of my gown high up and running away quickly whilst Da Xiong takes a quick snap! Thankfully, we only had 1-2 retakes else it would really be very exhausting for Tofu!

These are what they call the 皇家请帖 or royal invites translated loosely in English? We had no use for them though, probably going to use it one of them as yet another photo frame.

A set of mini thank you cards!

Plus 2 table photo frames of which one is already placed comfortably on our study table, and another waiting for our TV console to be ready before putting it up!

Haha! Mashimaro is so, so not suitable for acting cute. I always dig at him and says he has a 坏人脸!

And tadah, the main album! Love the acrylic hard cover! Bluebay offered a good variety of designs to choose from, we were really stuck at which one to choose! Opted for this simple but clean-looking one eventually. And by the way, the album is really freaking heavy!

Lastly, that’s our big photo frame! Unfortunately, we still have not found a suitable place to hang it up yet! =( Hanging it up in the bedroom looks so weird and out of place. This photo frame, together with Di Gio’s has been “resting” in my store cabinet ever since we moved in! Now I understand why people around me are telling me not to spend too much on photoshoots cause chances are most of the stuff will end up in the storeroom and be forgotten. But still, when you see the pictures you’ve taken, it takes alot effort not to get swayed to purchase more pictures!

Alrights, that’s all for this entry! I’m starting to get drowsy again, guess I’ll go and take a nap again for the nth time. Been doing nothing except eat and sleep and eat and sleep the entire day! Hope my fever goes away soon!

Early Xmas Gift Exchange!

leave a comment »

Here for a really quick update before I hit the bed! The weekend zoomed by so fast, I can’t even remember what I did! Anyway, December entries up!

Caught up with Mashimaro’s NUS peeps for the annual Christmas gift exchange! Dinner venue was at Modesto, VivoCity, and they were really nice to do the exchange wayyy earlier since we’ll be busy with our wedding preparations in the upcoming weeks.

Ordered the set meal for sharing, and the food portions were really generous and super value for money!

It’s pressies time! As usual, Mashimaro was Zdd’s secret santa AGAIN this year, and he bought a pair of boxers for him! Lol! Mashimaro got a polo tee from Huishi.

The babes with their gifts! Florence’s gift was a pretty Swarovski pen from Berrie, who unfortunately wasn’t able to make it. Huishi got pouch from Zdd, which will come in handy during runs/jogs!

Candice was my Secret Santa, got a Body Shop bath set from her, whereas I got Cindy a Iphone casing and accessory! Lol, and yup, I think Candice got a pair of “boxers” as well.

Group pictures! I think I look awfully dazed and stoned in all the pictures taken that day. I can never seem to get enough sleep everyday. Haa!

Pretty bad lightngs at Modesto which make all of us look so dark in the pictures!

And tada, that’s the end! Lol, it’s really a short update cause I want to have an early day so that I won’t be so stoned in during the meeting tomorrow. Alrightey, time for bed and I’m finally gonna blog about our wedding in detail next! Night world!

It’s My Bachlorette Party! ♥

leave a comment »

It’s 10.50pm and Mashimaro is still at work! ): Guess I’ll kill some time and blog about my bachlorette party that the lovelies from my gang organized for me! (: Anyway, there are no scandalous or jaw-dropping pictures cause we just had a simple, enjoyable and “clean” hen’s party! I guess it’s more of us spending time together catching up!

First stop of the day – Naumi Hotel, a luxury boutique hotel located along Seah Street, within walking distance to City Hall area.

Minx and Wendy checked in with me first at 2pm, and even though Naumi Hotel is pretty small, it’s really beautiful! Here’s the lobby area, where we had our breakfast at the next morning also!

If my memory didn’t fail me, we booked the normal room, but the staff upgraded us to the 2-bedroom suite FOC when we told him we’re here for a bachlorette party. Two thumbs up! Talk about thoughtfulness!

Here’s what we were greeted by when we stepped into the suite – There’s even a small work area, as well as a bar counter top!

And here’s the “master bedroom” or rather, the main bedroom. The decor on the wall is super pretty and we took tonnes of pictures with it as the backdrop! I think it goes really well with the lights, looks utterly cozy and inviting!

Here’s the other bedroom with a pull-out sofa bed, and it even comes equipped with a plasma TV!

Their bathroom spots a very clean and classy look, and they have both shower and bathtub!

Randoms – Nespresso coffee capsules (Did I mention that Mashimaro fell in love with Nepresso so much he actually brought their coffee machine from Lafayette at Paris cause it was much cheaper there? P/S: The salesman further tempted him even further with a 10% discount that he threw in under the table), TWG tea sachets, loads of Naumi branded “merchandises”  and Molten Brown bath accessories!

Dumped our barangs barangs and headed to their rooftop infinity pool. Of course, this can’t be comparable to the one at MBS definitely, but it looks like a pretty nice place (Overlooking the CBD area!) for chilling out with friends!

Enough of buildings and objects, the pictures-spam starts right here!

And after the rest of the girls came, it only means – More pictures!

Notice the similarity? Yup, we were all wearing the cute hair clips that Cclia got for us during her China trip!

Some of the girls with the photo frames that I made as a thank you gift for organizing my hen’s party!

The frames were bought from IKEA, scrap materials from this newly opened store at Parkway called Scrapalicious. Each girlie’s picture was actually based on their respective birthday photo taken in 2010. Anyway, I have the feeling the photo frames might just like, disintegrate anytime, especially the paper flowers cause they look so delicate and might be easily torn anytime! Oops.

Second stop – Dinner treat from the girls at Prego at Raffles City! Ah Zhong has been raving about it for the longest time! I seriously can’t remember what we ate, but I definitely remembered that their food is pretty good!

Our next destination – Drinks treat from the girls again at Loof! In case you’re wondering, even the hotel stay was a treat from them!

My pretty babes! No idea why Minx looks pretty drunk in this picture, we haven’t even start drinking yet! Lol. Sidetrack again, it can get pretty uncomfy after a while sitting down (My legs felt numb!) and it was pretty restrictive cause almost all of us were in dresses!

Cheers to the start of a blissful married life to me! Minus the part about the dreaded household chores, I think I’m pretty much loving my married life, staying together with Mashimaro. Lol!

Back to our room after drinks and we started goofing around with Ah Zhong’s ridiculously big specs! Please don’t ask me why my dear friend here chose this funny looking frame! Haha, and don’t you think that Joling shares an uncanny resemblance to this cartoon character from Bookworm Club (Omg that’s eons years ago) with the specs? Lol!

The morning after – Everyone looks so damn chui and  tired! Cclia “sacrificed” and slept on the sofa whereas the rest of us squeeze into the 2 beds! Really had to be extra careful not to flip or kick around much else I’ll just end up injuring someone.

Lastly, some bo-liao pictures to end the post. Please don’t ask me what we’re trying to do, I have no idea also!

Before I end this post, I would like to say a big thank you to my dearest girls again as for the memorable weekend!

It’s only 12.30am but I’m pretty stone now, and the thought of waking up at 6.30am again is saddening! Time for bed now and thankfully it’s finally Friday tomorrow, so damn looking forward to the weekend man! Can’t wait to laze in bed and sleep more! December entries up next! Ciaos!

Random Saturdays x 2

leave a comment »

Here for a quick update before I call it a day. Mashimaro has long dozed off on the sofa beside me when he’s supposed to be studying! -.- Anyway, this will purely be a food post, with pictures of the food that we ate during our random weekend dates!

Had dinner at the much raved about Paradise Dynasty. Guess this restaurant needs no further introduction, everyone knows it as the “restaurant with the colourful xiao long baos”! Blur me keep getting it mixed up with the atas Taste Paradise though.

The queue was mad and we didn’t make reservations beforehand as usual, took us pretty long before we managed to get a table!

And, presenting the “legendary” colourful xiao long baos! In 8 flavours – Original, Foie Gras, Black Truffle, Crab Roe, Ginseng, Cheesy, Garlic & Sze Chuan (Spicy)! I like the Crab Foe & Cheesy ones the most, hated the Ginseng.

Xiao long baos aside, the rest of their dishes were pretty good too, especially the fish slices!

Tootsie me. Speaking of which, I think I’ll need new glasses soon. Praying hard that my myopia hasn’t worsen again! *Mortified*

Have been yearning to bring Mashimaro to Don Quijote after Weizhong’s recommendations for 2nd Row’s Christmas Dinner 2 years back! And they are now located at Dempsey! Two thumbs up for saving the hassle to travel all the way to Lorong Kilat for good Spanish food!

Opted for alfresco dining for a change, nice place to sit, chill and basically, just stone. Of course, it helps alot that Mr Weather was being very cooperative that day as well!

The prawns are absolutely yummy! But if I didn’t remember wrongly, they certainly don’t come cheap! For 5 sticks of prawns, it was quite pricey.

Last food stop, Imperial Treasure Windows of Hong Kong (Super long name, and I guess it’s a direct translation from its Chinese name) at TripleOne Somerset. The concept of this place is very similar to the typical fast food restaurants like Macs & BK – Order at the counter before you get a seat inside.

Plenty of choices and combo meals to choose from, not to mention the fact that prices are very reasonable too! Really reminded me about Cafe de Coral in Hong Kong. It’s been awhile since I last visited Hong Kong, wonder when will my next trip be? ):

Time for bed now, it’s gonna be a homely Sunday tomorrow since Mashimaro will be busy studying. Not that I’m complaining cause I love being able to sleep in late without rushing here and there for a change, just nua-ing at home and watching my TVB dramas! Nights world, blog soon about my hen’s night next!

Mummy’s Graduation Ceremony

leave a comment »

Sigh, it’s fast approaching the end of the weekend yet again, in one and half hours time to be exact.

And yup, you’ve read my blog post title correctly, it was Mummy dearest’s graduation ceremony! Mummy has been taking calligraphy lessons diligently every Saturday at the Singapore Calligraphy Centre for the past 2-3 years, and finally, it’s graduation day! I’m really proud of Mummy who’s has a strong passion for learning new things despite her age! As for me, I’m such a stark contrast in comparison. I’m always feeling so washed-out after work each day, I just wanna nua at home and not do anything else. I really salute those who have the determination, energy  and time to work and study at the same time! 24 hours in a day is simply not enough for me, guess I’m pretty bad at time management.

Sis, Bro-in-law, Mashimaro and I attended her graduation ceremony first before the dinner. Spot my ultra cute Mummy receiving her certificate from the guest-of-honour. I thought Mummy looks exceptional cute in her graduation robe and hat which seems almost too big for her petite frame! And yes, she’s the smallest (In times of height) in her class!

And here’s a picture of Mummy with her selected work on display. Guilty as charged, I have no idea what the words mean! Mummy’s Chinese name is on the left though.  That’s Mummy with Zhang Lao Shi in the bottom left picture. I always call Zhang Lao Shi Mummy’s BFF cause even out of school, they join activities together, and even go on holiday trips together!

I think they look really, really cute together!

After the ceremony, we proceeded over to Grand Banquet Chinese Restaurant @ Hotel Royal for the graduation dinner. Each “graduate” was given a table for his/her family and friends. Mummy invited my aunt and cousins to the dinner, had a great time catching up with them! Speaking of which, it has been quite a looong time since I last saw them (Except Ruey maybe)!

Some pictures of the food that we ate - Not superbly fantastic, but pretty decent I guess. The dishes are pretty much what you’ll expect from a Chinese wedding dinner.

Pictures of my handsome/pretty cousins/cousin-in-law and my aunt! The 3 of them are siblings by the way.

Here’s my ultra cute Mummy and me! Haha, I still can remember what Mummy will say to me each time when I keep irritating her by gushing on and on about how cute she is! She’ll say that I’ve extremely limited vocabulary because there’s nothing else I’ll say besides saying that she’s cute!

And there’s the tired looking Mashimaro who just came back from Aussie after 3 weeks the night before! Picked Mashimaro from the airport together with Jian & Mother-in-law, was practically counting down the seconds to hugging my fluffy rabbit again! Speaking of which, it’s so nice living together with Mashimaro now cause I can hug him as and when I like. Hee!

I’m blogging more “diligently” these few days, and hopefully I’ll not be so backdated in my posts anymore – Finally started on my November posts already! Alrights, time to sleep and recharge (Though I seriously doubt I’ll ever feel 100% recharged on a blue-y Monday) for tomorrow. Life is back to routine as usual and every weekday, I’m counting down to the weekend. I guess it’s time for me to do something and welcome new changes into my life again. Night world!

Ms Zhong’s 25th @ Heart Bistro

leave a comment »

It was our last birthday celebration for 2010 for our October baby number 2, Ms Wendy Zhong!

Birthday venue was suggested by yours truly – Heart Bistro @ Palais Renaissance; after reading pretty good reviews of it on Hungrygowhere. The restaurant have a unique concept centering around being a wellness restaurant, using healthier and lighter cooking methods for their food. Don’t get me wrong, healthy and light food does not necessarily equates to being bland and tasteless. Their food tastes pretty good! And it’s certainly a refreshing and welcoming change from those usual rich, fried or oily dishes!

We had their hearty brunch set with 3 courses – Starter, main, dessert and  topped with coffee or tea.

I ordered their roasted snapper  and boy, I was surprised when it was served with a soup base, like the Western version of the typical Chinese fish soup? But it was really yummy though it might look unpalatable in the picture! And yup, I love mushrooms!

Here’s our pretty birthday babe, with her pretty birthday cake!

And my birthday wish for Ms Zhong: May all the good things in life be with you always, and may your Prince Charming come and sweep you off your feet like really, really soon! Haha! Anyway, Mashimaro finds it amazing that I can talk to her almost everyday, he’ll be like “Got so much things to talk about meh?” But aiyoh, girls being girls, there seems to be no end to our chatters and gossips!

Missing out Cecilia in our group pictures! Speaking of which,  Ben & Cecilia will be holding their wedding banquet this month! Can’t wait to attend their big day! Plus, 2011 seems to be a “hot” year for weddings cause I’ve counted like 9 couples who have tied or are tying the knot this year?

Alrighty, it’s time for bed again, and can I just whine that the weather is so intolerable nowadays? I’m totally missing the cooling weather at Europe. Erm, actually, I’m missing Europe in general, not just the weather!

Anyway, I’m super happy that it’s finally Friday tomorrow! Looking super forward to the weekend to have a good rest (Finally) and get the grass on my head fix real soon (Yay Jac is finally back!). Super in need of doing something to tidy up the mess on my head.

Night all, and have a good weekend ahead!

Honeymoon Mini Update

with 5 comments

I’m back for a mini update on our honeymoon trip! Looking at the photos, I’m starting to miss Europe all over again, as well as having Mashimaro by my side 24/7! The reality of going back to work sucks, but then again, if there’s no work, there’s no way we can afford another holiday!

Needless to say, the 17 days trip was awesome max, and we had a great time! We traveled from London > Lucerne > Zurich > Paris > Normandy > Paris, before going back to London again for our return flight back home.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, it’s pictures time! There’s sooo many pictures, I’m only selecting a few for posting!

Westminster Abbey – You can’t possibly miss that in London!

Starting our day with brunch along River Thames followed by strolling down Tower bridge holding Mashimaro’s hand!

Ripley’s Believe it or Not – Do you know that the longest nose in human history is 19cm? And there are lots, really lots more fascinating things like this guy who was born with a blue face since birth, or another one who had two pupils per eye! Freaky but true.

Madame Tussaud – A big difference from Hong Kong’s and in my opinion, the $50 admission fee was really worth it (Though I could do with lesser crowds and more picture-taking opportunities)! The 3D show we watch really spectacular, everyone was clapping at the end of it!

Switzerland – 100% awesome and damn scenic! To me, it’s the perfect choice for honeymoon – Relaxing and every picture is postcard worthy!

Greeted by this pretty sight after alighting the train at Engelberg. How I envy those living there, waking up to such an awesome view every morning! Awww! (:

Saw the first snow of my life at Mt Titlis!

Meet my awesome companions to Jungfraujoch!

Top of Europe certainly lives up to its name, the 8 hours train ride to and fro was really worth it, despite being a person who hates long coach/train/plane rides, I have no grumbles at all for this!

Need I say more about this? Simply breathtaking. Wow!

The 3 hours drive to and fro to Le Mont St Michel from Caen was really worth it. Again, kudos to Mashimaro for driving whilst I slept like a pig on the car. Anyway, this picture doesn’t do it justice. Go google Le Mont St Michel and I’m sure there are tonnes of beautiful pictures. There’s something very unique about this place too, which probably explain why it’s a popular tourist spot!

Last leg of the trip, Paris. Bustling with city life and it’s definitely a shopping haven! Of course, we had our far share of sightseeing as well, else Mashimaro would be grumbling like mad. Lol!

View of Eiffel Tower from our hotel room at Novotel Paris Vaugirard Montparnasse. Mad pretty at night with the lights!

Huge crowd around Mona Lisa at Louvre. Seems like most people came just to catch a glimpse of it.

That’s all I have for this mini preview now! Pictures can only show this much, but what we have with us are memories within us that we’ll keep for a lifetime!

Thank you Mashimaro for the 101% effort put into planning this honeymoon. Although there might be some disagreements here and there along the way, but having Mashimaro’s company 24/7 more than make up for everything! I don’t know what I can end my blog post with, but what I know is that I love Mashimaro heaps! ^^

Of Friends & Food!

leave a comment »

Wanted to do a short update about our Honeymoon trip initially, but I guess I’ll better finish up the entry I’ve started before we flew.

Met up with Zhong, Minx & LZW for lunch on a Saturday. Initial plan was to check out Food For Thought – The Queen’s Street branch this time round, but we didn’t make any reservations beforehand and it was damn packed! They could only get us a table after like 1 hour later, so we had our lunch at Dome @ Singapore Art Museum, just across the road!

The food at Dome was average I guess, typical Western fare?

My pretty babes! ^^ Haha, finally we’re not in typical colours like white, black or navy. Lol!

And of course, we head over to Food For Thought for desserts after lunch! It was close to Halloween period during the time we went, and the cafe was decked out with Halloween decor. They had paper cuttings on their tables! Uber cuteness! Anyway, I feel that this branch is much, much better than the one at North Bridge Centre in terms of comfort and ambiance – Much brighter, cleaner and more spacious.

I’ve forgotten to snap a picture of the decor whereby they hanged glass bottles from the ceiling, super pretty!

Had their signature red velvet cake, which was not really to my liking, but it definitely score 100 marks in terms of attractiveness in appearance otherwise! We also ordered their profiterole topped up with chocolate & vanilla ice-cream, and we got a shock when it came cause it was damn freaking huge! But very, very yummy! Luckily there’s LZW around to help us finish it! Lol.

Alrights, I need to prepare and head out to meet the girls soon, so much to catch up on my Europe trip and Zhong’s US trip! Be back to do a proper update soon, since I guess I should be less busy now that our honeymoon trip is completed, and our house is more or less settled, or at least the bigger and more important things are. Ciaos!

PS: Suffering from post honeymoon withdrawal symptoms again! Some days I wake up thinking that I’m still in Europe. Awww! =(

Back!

with 2 comments

I’m back from our honeymoon trip! Looking at my last entry, it has been a good 1 month since I last blogged.

Been extremely busy the few weeks before our trip doing all the last minute research, bookings and reservations. Gosh! We should be termed the “last minute couple”. Lol, speaking of which, I think one of the hotel was booked on the day before our flight. Oops.

Anyway, as the title says, I’m back! Touched down on Sunday around 6-ish after a fulfilling 17 days trip! Despite being very, very last minute, I’m glad that we managed to make the trip a smooth and memorable one, and of course, we had alot of external help from friends as well, and I’m very sure you guys know who you are! *Love you all deep deep!*

I’ve so many pictures to share, promise to do a mini update on the trip soon (pictorial, of course!) cause I’ll probably take another year before I blog it down in details. Oops.

The only not-so-nice thing about the entire trip was bumping into pickpockets 2 days in a row at Paris, but fortunately and I’m extremely thankful that we didn’t suffer any losses. The first time round, a very, very nice black guy warned us about the pickpockets right in their face, even at the risk of incurring their wrath. Second time round, I caught the pickpocket personally fishing her hands into Mashimaro’s pockets! When I shouted at her, she pretended that she was trying to hold on to the handle bar for balance instead, and she had the nerve to step on my foot twice as her stupid form of revenge. Besides being extremely childish and incorrigible , I don’t know what else to say about her. Anyway, both cases happened on the Metro tube, they will suddenly appear out of nowhere, but please stay vigilant no matter where you are cause pickpockets can strike anytime, anywhere. (Gosh, I sound like a police advert now.)

And of yes, something “worth” mentioning was that I went to the most expensive toilet in my entire life! And nope, it’s not a very fanciful or atas toilet with damn good facilities, it was at the railway station at Zurich. I paid 2.00 CHF which equates to around $2.90 in SGD just to pee.

Alrightey, it’s time to call it a day now, finally transferred the pictures over from my cammie. Blog soon!

Saturday with 2nd Row ♥

leave a comment »

After so long, (It’s been close to a 2-month break) met up with my dearest 2nd Row peeps in October! As usual, our very nice Shan picked us up from Ion taxi stand again after being “volunteered” by Weizhong.

Lunch venue as recommended by Zhong – The Disgruntled Chef @ Dempsey! And yup, it started raining again after we reached Dempsey. It never fails to rain during every meetup. Lol!

Here’s what we ate! The food they served are pretty unique, though not everything was to my liking. For instance, stuff like the baked bone marrow? I couldn’t get pass the notion of putting something like erm, bone marrow into my mouth. But oh, the crab cakes were nice!

And so were the crackling suckling pig! But the overall verdict was that the portions were too small!

Here’s my happy clique! =) Pity that Cheri couldn’t make it this time round though.

Post lunch activity was KTV @ Party World! Come to think of it, even though I’ve know them for yearsss, our meetups largely revolve round nothing much else but pigging out!  This is actually the first time that I’m KTV-ing with them, and it was loadsss of fun as expected! ^^

Weizhong’s choice of songs is really erm, unique. But he never fails to crack us up with his funny antics!

With love from Switzerland from Shan! Seriously, I think Shan’s one of the rare (Not to mention sweetest) few friends who still bothers to write cards for us each time.

Anyway, Weizhong has just left for Ghana yesterday, and he’ll be gone for a frigging long 9 months, and we’ll definitely miss him lots! =( Even though he’s always the enthusiastic one in organizing all these meetups and contacting everyone, we’ll do our part as promised and still organize meetups frequently and post updates on FB for him! Lol!

And gosh, 1/2 of the long weekend is gone already! Waiting for our shoe cabinet and air conditioner to get fix before heading out for pre-trip shopping soon. Feeling so unprepared, and it doesn’t help that we’re less than 2 weeks away! =(

Food Tasting @ Marina Mandarin

with 5 comments

Back again after a 2-week hiatus! I’m back at my Mum’s place again this week cause Mashimaro is away, yet again! ): The internet connection at our new place is quite sucky though. Not sure if it’s a Starhub connection problem, or if it’s something wrong with the modem/router but I need to get it fixed asap cause the intermittent access is really driving me nuts!

Sometime back in October last year, we had our food tasting session @ Marina Mandarin. It was a mad rush cause Mashimaro was due in Aussie for 3 weeks, and we had so much to settle before he go!

The “judges” or rather, the food tasting panel from my side were – Mummy, Auntie & cousin Leng. From Mashimaro’s – His Dad, Mum, Jiejie & Jian!

Here’s the actual day setup for the VIP table – Red and gold colour scheme. We were given a form to rate each dish individually and to list down our comments. We chose the dishes earlier, and the food tasting session was based on the dishes that were selected.

The first dish, or rather the appetizers/starters - Lobster cold dish combination, which consists of lobster salad, jellyfish with sesame seeds, seafood roll, deep-fried meat with beancurd skin & pan-fried abalone clam with garlic.

I like their shark’s fin, it was yummy! Speaking of which, the yummiest shark’s fin that I’ve ever tasted was the one at Raffles Hotel! Slurps.

We didn’t choose this in the end though, changed it to their signature “Chef’s special crispy roast chicken” cause everyone didn’t really like the plum sauce!

I guess this dish is pretty standard – Steamed live garoupa with soya sauce. Oh yes, something worth mentioning was that Marina Mandarin offers cod fish as well! I was so tempted to choose cod fish cause I really, really love eating it (Especially with Teriyaki sauce!) but Mummy dearest advised me against it as she says that not all people will like its taste, which is rather true to some extend I guess. And so, we opted for the safest option!

Mashimaro was the recorder, and he took his assigned role seriously and noted down every single comment from everyone. Halfway into the dinner, the most frequent comment that was given was “too salty!”

I am posting this up for all to see because this is what Jian did to my cammie! Tsk tsk, such a closet cam-whore.

And the dinner continued on with my favourite dish for the day! Really enjoyed this lots, plus the prawns were really fresh, succulent and juicy. Sidetracking again as usual, but do try the bamboo herbal prawn soup at Putien someday. It’s something on my “must-eat” list!

Frankly speaking, I’m not a fan of abalones, so I don’t really have much comments for this dish. Next please!

Forgot to snap a picture of the mini pancakes that came together. Basically you’ll have to wrap the duck meat with the mini pancake, dip into the sauce and pop it into your mouth! Something along the lines of savoring Peking duck!

I didn’t really eat this though, was so damn bloated towards the end of the dinner!

And finally, desserts time! Mashimaro and I were having a hard time deliberating over the desserts options. I wanted something different from the usual desserts like yam paste (Or rather, orh nee as it’s usually known) or mango sago, and thought of trying out their double boiled snow fungus with quail egg since the concept was unique! But Mashimaro thought that the idea of quail eggs in dessert was nothing but strange!

The very nice Sen actually arranged for both desserts to be served for trying!

And yup, our choice is clear, didn’t even have to think twice – Mango sago with ice-cream was no doubt the clear winner!

Like what others say, this was almost as good as having our wedding banquet dinner in full albeit 2 months earlier, cause you’ll be so busy during the banquet, you won’t have time to really sit down and eat. Which is very true in my case, cause all I remembered was that I sat down, took a mouthful of the shark’s fin soup, and then the banquet manager came over signalling me to go up to the room to change into my evening gown. And that was all I “ate” during the entire dinner.

That aside, we did received feedback from our guests that the food was pretty good. Phew, glad that our guests did enjoyed the food!

It’s time to seek refuge in my air-conditioned room for now! Gosh the weather is really bizarre nowadays! One minute it can be scorching hot like nobody’s business, and the next thing you know, it’s pouring like mad!

October Babies!

leave a comment »

Here’s my first post for the month of April, and I’m trying hard to catch up on my blogging, though I know it’s really mission impossible for me to be 100% up to date.

And yup! Finally something to smile about – I’m on leave tomorrow! Hee.

Celebrated another October baby, Berrie’s birthday at Watami. Been hearing rave reviews about Watami, but every time we walk pass, the queue at Ion is crazy! Anyway, we went to the branch at Raffles City basement this time round.

We took their promotional dinner sets for sharing, and gosh, there was so much food, we had difficulty finishing everything. Here are just a few pictures of what we ate!

Notice the difference? The left handers vs the right handers!

Here’s our pretty birthday babe! Happy birthday Berrie!

Celebrated another October baby, Elaine’s birthday at (No prizes for guessing correctly where we went!) The Magic of Chong Qing Hotpot @ Tanglin Shopping Centre, as requested by the birthday girl. Seriously, Elaine loveee steamboat so much we’ve been celebrating her birthday at the same restaurant (Just different places, alternating between the Suntec and Tanglin branch) for the past 3 years!

Missing out Donald & Lynette in the usual couple shots!

Polaroids, courtesy of Elaine! Our polaroid is currently residing in Mashimaro’s wallet. Did I mention I specially selected a wallet with photo compartment for Mashimaro so that he can carry our picture with him? Hee.

Got Elaine a similar cupcake from Oni Cupcake – Except that hers was extremely pinkishand girly!

Happy birthday Elaine! It was a Chanel necklace this time round for the birthday girl!

Alrights, it’s time to shut down now, if not my lappie will go into hibernating mode anytime soon! Next update will be on our food tasting session at Marina Mandarin! Hope everyone have a beautiful weekend!

Sixty Two Month-full of ♥

with 2 comments

Celebrated our 62nd Monthversary back in October! Actually, we don’t really make a conscious effort to celebrate every monthversary, just every now and then if we’ve time to go for a good meal and some self-pampering!

Dinner was at Spruce at Phoenix Park – Been wanting to try it out since reading the reviews on hungrygowhere, plus, looking at restaurant pictures off the web, it seems like a really nice place to sit and chill. Initial plans were to have a birthday celebration with the gang, but the staff told us that they don’t take reservations for large groups? Next on the list to visit is Cocoette!

Ordered their Signature Spruce Boston Clam Chowder for sharing. Mashimaro had the Whole Roasted Snapper (Reminds me of what he had at La Catina) whereas I had the Signature Spruce King Pasta. Didn’t expect the pasta to be green, but well, it doesn’t taste as bad as what I thought it’ll be! But guess I still very much prefer the normal yellow-colored pastas.

And gosh, the chocolate cake we had for desserts is super rich and heavenly but uber sinful! Being a 100% chocolate lover, I’m sure Cecilia will love this too! Hee.

Anyway, since we were in the vicinity, Mashimaro drove over to Ridley Park and showed me this MASSIVE house owned by self made millionaire Tommie Goh. And when I said “massive”, I really mean it, and it’s really damn freaking huge! Goodness, it looks like a hotel! And you can’t miss the house cause there’s a freaking huge eagle statue (I’m estimating it’s about 2-storey tall) in front of the house, and there are alot of expensive and exotic sports car lined up around the gate. If this isn’t enough, I heard he apparently has an underground carpark within the house for his collection of 30++ sports cars! Try googling “2 Ridley Park/Tommie Goh” for pictures and you’ll know what I mean! I seriously wonder how many millions his assets are worth in total.

Anyway, enough wow-ing and ahhh-ing about Tommie Goh – Did some light shopping (Yay! My fave but Mashimaro’s headache!) at Vivo before heading to Safra Jurong for KTV!

Kbox @ Safra Jurong was damn freezing cold! Even Mashimaro who rarely complain about cold was actually shivering! Anyway, when we revisited Kbox again last month, we were well-prepared and brought along 2 super thick jackets (I seriously contemplated bringing blankets along as well!) – But guess what? This time round, the room that they allocated us was too warm instead! -.-

Loving each and every single day spent with my fluffy rabbit, even though you always fall asleep during KTV sessions with me (Evidence captured on picture)! But poor Mashimaro is away now, which explains why I’m blogging much more frequently than usual! Can’t wait for Wednesday to come soon!

Totally random, but my fave mascara which I swear by is gonna be discontinued! Major sadness! ): Maybe I should go Swantons to stock up tomorrow since I still saw them selling it!

Weekends please come soon and please, please stay longer this time round. Ciaos!

LBY’s Twenty Fifth!

leave a comment »

It was another of my girlfriend’s birthday, the first October baby LBY! Opted for Korean food this time round for a change – Chang Korean Charcoal BBQ Restaurant @ Dempsey!

The side dishes that were served – I’m not really a fan of kimchi, but the egg yolks were yummy!

Our mains were pretty much the typical Korean fare – BBQ meat, kimchi pancake, bimbimbap, ginseng chicken etc. Speaking of which, I’m missing the set lunches at this Korean restaurant near my ex-office that I used to frequent with Limin or Jiemin! Such a pity that the place is not that accessible anymore from my current workplace, think it’ll be a good 20 minutes walk! ):

Our “table-ful” of food! Super bloated after the meal!

The hugeee amount of food that we ate looks even more scary in this picture! The only “not-so-appealing” thing about BBQ food is that your clothes really stinks after the meal, especially so for cardigans I realize!

Tried our luck at Udders after dinner for desserts, but it was pack to the max! Headed down to TCC @ Changi Airport, took us a while, but finally managed to get a table for our big group!

Our birthday babe + her GT!

It’s 3.15am and I’m still wide awake, caused I’ve slept sooooo much in the afternoon, and then again at 8pm! Concussed after taking medicine in the afternoon, and concussed again in the evening after cleaning up our house – I must admit guilty that the past 2 Saturday afternoons spent house-cleaning is more than the amount of household chores I’ve done in my entire life! Oops, and I’m still trying hard not to give in to the temptation of hiring a part-time helper. Shall just take house-cleaning as my weekly exercise routine then!

Off to concentrate on watching “Temptations of An Angel” on 855 now! Strangely addictive though I think everyone can sorta guess the story ending. Ciaos!
